TORONTO, June 22, 2015 /CNW/ - canfitpro has committed $100,000 over the next 5 years towards building the canfitpro Outdoor Recreation Space at the Pacific Autism Family Centre (PAFC). This incredible space will support individuals and families with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related disorders integrate physical activity into their time at the Centre. Autism occurs 1 in every 68 children making it the most common neurological disorder affecting children. The cause, or causes, of ASD are still unknown and, for now, there is no cure.
Through this fundraising initiative, canfitpro will create an outdoor environment where youth and adults feel safe, comfortable, engaged, and gently stimulated to socialize and have ample transitional spaces. This play area will also be equipped with outdoor fitness equipment that is intended to improve strength, coordination and balance.
"We are delighted with this newly formed partnership with canfitpro and what their $100,000 commitment will mean for the Pacific Autism Family Foundation (PAFF) and the GoodLife Fitness Autism Family Hub located in Richmond" says Wendy Lisogar-Cocchia, Co-Founder of the PAFF. "The 'canfitpro Outdoor Recreation Space' will be an environment where youth and adults feel safe, engaged and gently stimulated to socialize. It will include a play area with fitness equipment, and will have a significant impact on the well-being of individuals on the spectrum. We are forever grateful for canfitpro's generousity".
canfitpro has launched this initiative in conjunction with their largest event, the canfitpro world fitness expo, taking place August 12-16, 2015 in Toronto. Donations can be made directly at www.pacificautismfamily.com/donate/ and on individual canfitpro conference registrations.
"We are very excited to get our members involved in making such a positive addition in the lives of individuals and families faced with ASD. The benefits of exercise are tremendous and it is our vision to empower people to lead passionate and fulfilling lives through safe, fun, and effective physical activity." Rod Macdonald, VP of canfitpro.
