CanJet reduces staff at Halifax Flight Attendant base
HALIFAX, March 29, 2012 /CNW/ - CanJet Airlines regrets to announce a reduction of staff at its Halifax location. CanJet has not had an active aircraft based in Halifax for a prolonged period of time and no flights are scheduled in the foreseeable future. As a result, layoff notices have been provided to 18 Halifax-based Flight Attendant staff.
As outlined in their collective agreement, Flight Attendant staff will receive severance and have the ability to relocate to other CanJet locations in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, where the company operates flights on behalf of Transat Tours. Flight Attendant staff who transfer to one of these locations will be provided relocation assistance from the company.
There is no flight program planned in Halifax for the remainder of 2012, but CanJet's Halifax base will remain open in anticipation that a new flight program be awarded in the future. At such a time, Halifax-based Flight Attendant staff could be recalled.
CanJet Airlines, an IMP Group company, has more than 440 seasonal and permanent Flight Attendants located between Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
