TORONTO, Feb. 21, 2018 /CNW/ - CANNABIS COMPLIANCE INC. (CCI) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is pleased to announce the conditional acceptance for securing cannabis retail licence in Manitoba for National Access Cannabis (NAC). "We are excited for our client, National Access Cannabis, for their success in the RFP process thus far to operate cannabis retail stores in Manitoba," says Brian Wagner, CEO and Founder of CCI. "NAC is an established organization with an excellent senior team driving their success. We are privileged to support them in executing their plan to deliver secure, safe and responsible access to legal cannabis."
Mark Goliger, CEO of National Access Cannabis said, "We'd like to thank the team at Cannabis Compliance Inc. for their assistance in executing this RFP. We're excited about our company's future in recreational cannabis retail and I look forward to providing updates as we develop our locations."
Cannabis Compliance Inc. is pleased to announce strategic partnerships to support its retail compliance offerings, including Purolator, 3 Sixty Secure Corp, Airmed, Magal S3, and Merrco Payments. CCI will focus its inhouse resources on compliance related areas including facility design, security programs, operational procedures, auditing programs and provincial licensing support.
As western Canada prepares for a more private retail model for cannabis sales, CCI has been offering compliance readiness packages ahead of licence applications. The Province of Alberta has been the most progressive and decentralized model introduced among the provinces, with the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) announcing the retail licensing application process last week on February 16, 2018. Applications for cannabis retail stores can be submitted as early as March 6, 2018, making Alberta the first province to start the official private licensing process. While the AGLC is not formally capping the number of retail locations, they are anticipating around 250 stores to be licensed in 2018.
In British Columbia, the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch has announced its private retail licensing model as well, with an online application portal being launched at some point in the spring of 2018. Saskatchewan has also announced that it will license approximately 60 private retail stores, with distribution controlled by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA).
