Canon Canada sponsors PhotoSensitive exhibit on aging
PhotoSensitive exhibit tells story of Canada's aging population in black and white.
TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2014 /CNW/ - A photo captures many messages. Take the black and white snapshot of 86-year-old Harvey Freeman — a perfect candidate for PhotoSensitive's newest project Aging, which Canon Canada Inc. is proud to sponsor. Freeman proves all aging stereotypes wrong as he demonstrates the physical and mental well-being he has maintained from his healthy lifestyle of running and good nutrition.
At the age of 68 Freeman was working a high-stress job, was 20 pounds heavier, and living a more stressful life. After surviving a heart attack, Freeman took his health in his hands and took up running.
This is just one example of the inspiring seniors' stories captured in Aging. More than 50 professional photographers are featured in this exhibit, displaying their interpretation of aging. The exhibit also features students work from 13 schools from the Conference of Independent schools of Ontario and Loyalist College.
"Canon is excited to sponsor PhotoSensitive using our Arizona flatbed printers as they share with Canadians these powerful visual narratives on aging," says Patrick D'Souza, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Professional Printing Solutions Group at Canon Canada. "Canon's state-of-the-art printing technology brings Freeman's personal journey and the other accompanying photos and stories to life through the power of digital imaging."
Through the Aging project, PhotoSensitive brings together 100 compelling images captured by Canadian photographers, sharing them with communities across the country. This collection of poignant photographs offers a touching and multifaceted glimpse into the unique lives of Canada's senior population.
Over the past 20 years, Canon Canada has sponsored many of PhotoSensitive's projects to help the non-profit raise awareness of important societal issues. The Aging exhibit launches with a grand opening celebration on September 15 at the Royal Bank Plaza in downtown Toronto.
Dates and locations for the PhotoSensitive exhibit:
September 15 - October 6 at Royal Bank Plaza; October 6 - October 27 at 1 Adelaide St. East, and October 27 - November 17 at 2 Bloor St. West.
