Institutional broker and research provider joins the UNX multi-broker Marketplace and distributes Catalyst to expand its business internationally
NEW YORK, Jan. 25, 2012 /CNW/ - UNX LLC (www.unx.com), a leading provider of innovative trading technology solutions, and Capital Institutional Services, Inc. (CAPIS) announce the immediate availability of institutional brokerage solutions from CAPIS via UNX's global, broker-neutral Catalyst trading platform.
The brokerage is now a distributor of the Catalyst Execution Management System (EMS) as well as a destination in UNX's broker connectivity network, allowing institutional traders to access CAPIS services and route orders directly to them via the Catalyst front end.
CAPIS is an institutional broker specializing in global agency trading, independent research, commission management programs and soft-dollar programs. Clients include asset managers, broker-dealers, pension plans, hedge funds, foundations, endowments and mutual fund companies.
Its partnership with UNX allows the U.S. firm to extend its business to a broader, more global base of customers and trading participants. And the decision to distribute the Catalyst EMS reinforces CAPIS' reputation of delivering top-tier technology and tools.
"As an independent broker and specialist in agency trading, using sophisticated and broker-neutral technology is key to delivering superior execution services for our institutional clients," states Jim Morrow, Chief Operating Officer. "And Catalyst's open, fully-extensible architecture also allows our clients to streamline their workflow and access relevant information right from their blotter," he adds.
UNX CEO Thomas Kim comments that the addition of CAPIS to UNX's broker-dealer partnership and distribution network underscores the value of Catalyst's broker-neutral, open-technology platform to all trading participants.
"Catalyst EMS users benefit from a wider choice of execution destinations and premium services, and CAPIS can use the Catalyst Software Development Kit (SDK) to introduce additional content and services to their clients," Kim states. "It is yet another affirmation of our goal to build a global marketplace of participants who can access any trading solution from any broker, vendor or exchange they want."
UNX recently launched its Catalyst Marketplace open-source financial software store, which offers free, paid and trial-version software applications from broker-dealers and investment banks, trading firms, exchanges and software companies around the world. Apps include those for news, market data, analytics, and research. For more information about the Marketplace and to download Catalyst, visit http://www.unx.com
