Focus on the Whole Person puts Capital One in the Top Ten
TORONTO, April 10, 2015 /CNW/ - Capital One Canada announced today that it has once again been named one of Canada's Best Workplaces by the Great Place to Work Institute. The company was recognized for creating a fun and caring work environment that fosters a culture of openness and collaboration.
Using a holistic approach, Capital One associates are empowered to become masters of their craft through learning and development opportunities, while also taking advantage of the flexibility and wellness programs the company offers.
"We are striving to create a work environment where people can pursue the best version of themselves, and where they feel supported to pursue their professional and personal goals," said Shane Holdaway, President, Capital One Canada. "We're all different and we want to encourage that diversity of thought because it is such a powerful business enabler."
Now in its second year on the list, Capital One was also recognized for its deep commitment to workforce training and development through the company's Capital One University, which offers more than 2,000 instructor led courses and 1,668 virtual classroom sessions. The company also offers flexible work schedules, telecommuting and the Be Well program that encourages team fitness and health goals.
Great Place to Work®, the creators of the list, has found that employees believe they work for great organizations when they consistently trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do and enjoy the people with whom they work.
"Our values are deeply ingrained in our culture. Excellence and Do the Right Thing are a part of our DNA - they are our north star when making business decisions, interacting with each other and serving our customers," said Holdaway.
Great Place to Work ® (GPTW) is a global research and consulting firm whose mission is to build a better society by helping companies transform their workplaces. All of the organizations on this list were assessed using an employee survey, called the Trust Index © developed by Great place to Work.
This is part of the world's largest annual workplace study, which culminates in a series of national lists in almost 50 countries, including the study's flagship list of 100 Best companies published annually in Fortune magazine. Globally, this survey represents the voices of 11 million employees, including approximately 300,000 from Canada alone. It's what makes this study so credible: the primary determinant used in selecting winners is an employee survey. There's only one way to get on this list – and that's if your employees put you there.
