CargoM hails the establishment of the marine terminal project at Contrecoeur
MONTREAL, Feb. 2, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Cargo Montréal (CargoM), the Logistics and Transportation Metropolitan Cluster of Montreal, is thrilled with the realization of the marine terminal project at Contrecoeur dedicated to container transport. This $650 million investment generating more than 1,000 jobs confirms Greater Montreal's strategic positioning as the gateway for North American container transport.
"The new terminal at Contrecoeur will enable Greater Montreal to continue to grow, attract new markets and strengthen the competitiveness of our supply chain. We see it as the result of all the efforts of all the players in the cluster and the freight transport and logistics sector. We are very proud of this," said the Executive Director of CargoM, Mathieu Charbonneau.
This project is part of the continuity of the Port of Montreal's strengths: rapid access to a market of close to 110 million consumers; highly efficient intermodal connections; the presence of a strong ecosystem supported by cooperative relationships with stakeholders; and alignment with the Quebec Maritime Strategy.
"We would like to acknowledge the Port of Montreal's leadership and vision in this project. It sends a clear signal about the growth and competitiveness of our hub for the future," said Mr. Charbonneau.
