MONTREAL, June 12, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Cargo Montréal (CargoM), the Logistics and Transportation Metropolitan Cluster of Montreal, presented yesterday an overview of its 2014–2015 activities at its Annual Meeting, attended by Greater Montreal's top industry leaders.
"For CargoM, 2014–2015 was not just full accomplishments, but also public recognition. Our notoriety increased greatly. In the past few months, politicians and industry players alike have highlighted the key role Montreal's logistics hub plays. This leads us to foresee a panoply of opportunities to come," says Mr. Mathieu Charbonneau, the hub's General Director.
Since its founding in late 2012, CargoM has been an authoritative point of reference, orientation and planning for projects in Greater Montreal's logistics and transportation sector. During its third year, CargoM stood out for its boldness and efficiency, particularly by implementing its working groups and launching innovative initiatives, including:
- A study to analyze and document "the Savannah multi-site model" and a visit to Savannah, Georgia, in June 2014, to tour the facilities there and discuss with project partners in order to develop a project tailored to Montreal's positioning as a location favourable to the development of a multi-site logistics promotional tool;
- The conceptualization of a logistics hub promotional tool and its presentation at the "Je vois MTL" event on November 17, 2014, where the project was selected for implementation;
- A special insert on Greater Montreal's logistics and transportation industry created in collaboration with the Chambre de commerce du Montréal métropolitain and read by over 500,000 readers (La Presse (print) and LaPresse+ (mobile) on November 26, 2014);
- Recognition from the industry via the Prix transport des marchandises and the Prix Distinction awarded by AQTr;
- The development of a mobile application for truckers in collaboration with the Ville de Montréal, the Ministère des Transports du Québec and the Association du camionnage du Québec.
Many new members have joined CargoM over the last year: CMA-CGM, Kuehne+Nagel Ltd., Dorel, Metro Supply Chain Group, TYT Group, Hunt Refrigeration, Sotech Nitram Inc., Fonds de solidarité FTQ and the Association québécoise des transports.
