Carole Beaulieu appointed as publisher of L'actualité magazine
MONTREAL, June 16 /CNW Telbec/ - Brian Segal, president and CEO of Rogers Publishing Limited, today announced the appointment of Carole Beaulieu to the position of publisher and editor-in-chief of L'actualité magazine. Beaulieu, who has held the position of editor-in-chief of the magazine since 1998, will succeed Réal Germain as publisher, the latter having announced his decision to leave the company to pursue his career at Cogeco Diffusion. Carole Beaulieu's appointment will take effect June 18, 2010.
"Carole has been an outstanding editor-in-chief at L'actualité and plays a key role in shaping the influence of the magazine in Quebec society," says Segal. "Assuming the dual role of editor-in-chief and publisher will expand on her leadership to include total responsibility for the L'actualité business."
Beaulieu studied journalism at Carleton University. She began her career at Verdun's Messager in 1981 and was a journalist at Le Devoir from 1984 to 1988, during which time she received the 1992 Jules-Fournier award for excellence in the French language. From 1989 to 1998, as a journalist for L'actualité, she travelled extensively and published many reports, profiles, and interviews. She has won fellowships from the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, Journalistes en Europe and the prestigious American Crane-Rogers Foundation, which resulted in her spending two years living and working in Southeast Asia. She is also the recipient of several Canadian National Magazine Awards.
"Content is King in today's changing media world and L'actualité is the Queen of great content," says Beaulieu. "The business opportunities abound and I am excited and honored at the prospect of leading a team of such talented professionals."
