Carolyn Wilkins to address Coalition for a Better Future Summit, highlighting importance of economic growth Français
Hundreds of participants from across Canada gather to discuss the future of the Canadian economy
OTTAWA, ON, Oct. 27, 2021 /CNW/ - Economic growth will be critical to Canada's success in the post-COVID world. That's the message former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada Carolyn Wilkins will deliver this afternoon at the start of a two-day Summit hosted by the Coalition for a Better Future.
Chaired by former federal Cabinet Ministers Anne McLellan and Lisa Raitt, the Summit brings together an inspiring and insightful slate of innovators and problem-solvers. They are gathering for in-person and virtual dialogue to discuss how Canada's public, private and non-profit sectors can work together to achieve a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future. The Summit's full agenda can be viewed here.
"We all recognize the benefits of sustainable and inclusive growth. The key to success is to shift our focus towards long-term investments in people, businesses and infrastructure needed to make the most of new technology, meet our climate objectives and care for an aging population," said Wilkins. "The willingness of diverse groups representing business and civil society to collaborate in the Coalition for a Better Future and participate in this Summit is a positive and critical contribution to the national conversation."
The Summit follows the swearing-in of a new federal Cabinet earlier this week. One of the most pressing challenges facing the new government will be ensuring a strong and resilient economic recovery.
The Coalition for a Better Future's members represent a broad range of leading Canadians and Canadian organizations, including community and youth leaders, environmental organizations, Indigenous groups and business leaders from across the country. The Summit features speakers ranging from grassroots leaders to internationally renowned experts. Summit discussions will focus on building a bold new economic and social vision for Canada.
