Cascade Aerospace Disappointed that an Agreement Not Reached by Strike Deadline
ABBOTSFORD, BC, June 4, 2014 /CNW/ - Cascade Aerospace has advised that a deal for a renewed collective agreement with UNIFOR local 114 was not reached prior to the commencement of job action by the Union which began today at 11am PST. Cascade and its Union have been negotiating a renewed collective agreement since early February.
Ben Boehm, Executive Vice President and COO, stated "The Company's offer is fair and balances improvements in employee remuneration with operational changes that will allow us to compete for aircraft maintenance, overhaul and modification work in increasingly competitive domestic and international markets". The last offer includes annual wage increases with no change to the benefit programs for existing employees.
"While it is unfortunate that UNIFOR has decided to take job action, we remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached that will position Cascade and all of our employees for future growth while maintaining an on-going sustainable business."
Cascade Aerospace has advised that it will continue to work to fulfill its contractual obligations to customers in compliance with all aviation certification and regulations under which it is governed.
Cascade Aerospace has been, and remains, willing to bargain with the goal of coming to a settlement as quickly as possible.
