ABBOTSFORD, BC, June 10, 2014 /CNW/ - On June 4th 2014 UNIFOR Local 114 began legal strike action with Cascade Aerospace after the parties were unable to reach a renewed collective agreement. Cascade and its Union had been negotiating a renewed collective agreement since early February.
Ben Boehm, Executive Vice President and COO, stated "The Company's last offer was fair and included wage increases and operational changes that will allow us to compete for aircraft maintenance, overhaul and modification work in increasingly competitive domestic and international markets".
While it is unfortunate that UNIFOR has decided to take this job action, Cascade is committed to supporting its customers during this period. Ben Boehm stated that; "Last week Cascade management staff ensured the return of one of Canada's military aircraft in order for it to resume its duties in Canada's military and search and rescue fleet. It is important that during this period we support both our military and commercial customers to achieve their missions. Cascade will continue to work with all its customers to minimize the impact of this strike on their operational requirements."
"Cascade continues to remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached that will position it and all of its employees for future growth while maintaining an on-going sustainable business."
