Casino Nanaimo donates to the Loaves & Fishes Food Bank

NANAIMO, BC, Sept. 23 /CNW/ - During a recent customer appreciation day at Casino Nanaimo, the casino team was able to raise over $1,720 for a local food bank, Loaves and Fishes.

 "We wanted to give back to the community so during the customer appreciation day we saw a perfect opportunity to raise funds for the food bank. We served burgers, salads and desserts for a minimum donation of $2. All the employees and guests were excited about lending a helping hand and making sure that this great community organization receives support," said Kwai Lam, General Manager, Casino Nanaimo.

Loaves and Fishes is a community food bank that supplies the local area with non-perishable items that meet the basic nutritional guidelines. In 2009, Loaves and Fishes provided 43,855 food bags to those in need.  

"Thank you to Casino Nanaimo, the staff and customers for supporting Loaves and Fishes Food Bank. Today's donations are tomorrow's food for nearly two thousand people who visit our food bank every week," said Mike Counsell, Director, Loaves and Fishes Food Bank.
