Cassels Brock Joins Forces with the Canadian Apparel Federation
TORONTO, March 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP has joined the Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF) as its official legal partner. Together the two organizations will pursue a common goal to provide insight and guidance on complex issues faced by the fashion industry in Canada.
Cassels Brock will contribute articles to the CAF Bulletin and Website (www.apparel.ca), and participate in CAF's Webinar Series in order to inform fashion industry participants on legal issues affecting their business, including: intellectual property rights, regulatory matters and brand protection.
"The fashion industry faces a range of ever changing, complex legal issues, and we're committed to helping CAF members navigate these matters to gain success in their business," noted Len Glickman, co-founder, Cassels Brock Fashion Industry Practice Group.
As the fashion industry gears up for World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto, which runs March 12 to 17, Cassels Brock will once again have a strong presence with its participation as the exclusive legal advisors to the Mercedes-Benz Start Up program, which provides five fashion designers from across Canada with valuable assistance on business and career issues.
"The Canadian fashion industry faces local and global issues. We help them to recognize and deal with important issues, from counterfeiting to licensing and distribution agreements," added Casey Chisick, co-founder, Cassels Brock Fashion Industry Practice Group.
The firm also offers regular, ongoing seminars to its fashion industry clients. Recent guest speakers have included Larry Rosen, CEO, Harry Rosen Inc., and Robin Kay, President, Fashion Design Council of Canada and Executive Director, World MasterCard Fashion Week.
