Catherine Roome, CEO of BC's safety regulator, named one of Canada's Most Powerful Women
VANCOUVER, Nov. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - Technical Safety BC is pleased to announce that Catherine Roome, President and CEO, has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women for 2018.
Launched in 2003, the Top 100 Awards pay tribute to outstanding women across the country who advocate for diversity in the workforce, and who serve as an inspiration for the next generation of leaders. The awards span the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors.
"It's an honour to be selected among so many other inspiring individuals," says Roome, who hails from Duncan BC, but currently makes her home in North Vancouver. As President and CEO of Technical Safety BC, Roome has played a key role in transforming the safety regulator into a modern, knowledge-based organization that uses cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence to advance safety. A professional engineer, Roome is known for her visionary thinking and her ability to integrate technology and humanity to promote innovation for social good.
Roome joins a host of other iconic women trailblazers who have received the award including best-selling author Margaret Atwood; astronaut Dr. Roberta Bondar; former governor general Michaëlle Jean; and BC's Kathy McGarrigle, former COO of Coast Capital Savings Credit Union.
