Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto announces Janice Robinson as new Executive Director
TORONTO, Dec. 30, 2014 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto (CCAS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Janice Robinson to the position of Executive Director effective February 2, 2015.
Ms. Robinson comes to CCAS with 27 years of experience in child welfare as an executive, senior manager, supervisor and child protection worker. She has been the Executive Director at the Children's Aid Society of Haldimand Norfolk since 2008 and, prior to this, was the Society's Director of Service for five years. Ms. Robinson also held a number of positions at the Brant Children's Aid Society from 1988 to 2003, where she developed much of her expertise in child protection management—specifically, she managed the Permanency Services Unit, Intake Unit, Native Services Branch, Family and Resources Unit and the Family Resource Centre.
While Ms. Robinson was a child protection worker, she developed and co-ordinated the Sexual Abuse Treatment Program, provided group work and individual treatment for sexual abuse victims, developed a child witness program, delivered a parent support group work program and provided emergency after- hours services.
For many years, Ms. Robinson has provided leadership through her participation on a number of provincial child welfare initiatives. Most recently, she has co-chaired the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies' (OACAS) Child Protection Information Network (CPIN) Advisory Committee and served on the Ministry of Children and Youth Service's CPIN Executive Committee. In 2010, she was the Project Co-Chair and contributing author of the OACAS paper, Clinical Counselling in Child Welfare.
Ms. Robinson received her Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto. She is in her third year of her Doctorate in Philosophy in Social Work at McMaster University, and is a course instructor at Wilfred Laurier University in the Faculty of Human and Social Services.
"Janice is highly regarded in the sector as a visionary, strategic leader who has demonstrated her commitment to excellence in the delivery of service to children," says Richard Piatti, President of the CCAS Board of Directors. "She is committed to evidence-based services, quality assurance outcomes and strives to promote a respectful, productive work environment through an ethical, anti-oppressive culture. We are looking forward to Janice working with staff, foster caregivers, volunteers, community partners and the Board to articulate a clear vision for the future of CCAS."
