Catholic Education Group Appoints new Executive Director
TORONTO, June 9, 2015 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors for the Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association (OCSTA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Milanetti as the Association's Executive Director, effective August 1, 2015.
Mr. Milanetti is an accomplished Catholic educator with more than 30 years' experience at the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. During this period he has served as a school administrator, a Supervisory Officer of Schools and is currently Superintendent of Human Resources.
A well regarded leader at the local level, Nick Milanetti has also garnered the respect of colleagues and educational partners at the provincial level. In 2010, he was elected to serve as President of the Ontario Catholic Supervisory Officers' Association.
"The OCSTA hiring committee was very impressed with Mr. Milanetti's breadth of experience as an effective educator and administrator with one of the largest publicly funded Catholic school boards in the country. Mr. Milanetti's leadership—rooted in the commitment to serving the needs of students and informed through experience at the local and provincial level—will support our province-wide agenda to advance the interests and goals of publicly funded Catholic education in Ontario," said Kathy Burtnik, OCSTA president.
As a certified Supervisory Officer, Mr. Milanetti also holds a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from the University of Windsor and has completed certificate courses at York University in Special Education, Religious Education and Guidance.
"Catholic trustees are charged with the responsibility of leading school boards towards realizing a vision for the spiritual, intellectual, social and physical development of students in Catholic schools. OCSTA was established to support trustees in fulfilling this mandate and I am honoured to have the privilege to serve OCSTA's membership in this capacity. I look forward to the opportunity of continuing to serve in the field of Catholic education over the next several years," said Mr. Milanetti.
The Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association is the provincial voice for Catholic education. Founded in 1930, OCSTA represents all English Catholic school boards and collectively educates 545,000 students in Ontario, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.
