Catholic Teachers welcome Pope Francis I
TORONTO, March 14, 2013 /CNW/ - The Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association, (OECTA) on behalf of its 45,000 members, joins with the faithful throughout the world in welcoming Pope Francis I, as teacher, brother and guide.
"From the earliest days of the Church, we know that the primary role of the Bishop is one of teacher; to educate all in the core message of the Gospel, which is love," says Kevin O'Dwyer, President of OECTA.
The teachers of OECTA, and indeed Catholics throughout the world, look to our new teacher, the Bishop of Rome, for a vision of the love of Christ realized in our classrooms, and in our lives, and that Pope Francis I recognize the gifts each and every Catholic brings to our faith community."
OECTA represents the 45,000 professional women and men who teach all grades in publicly funded English Catholic schools in Ontario.
