CBC ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO EXECUTIVE TEAM
TORONTO, Nov. 9 /CNW/ - CBC today announced that Scott Moore, executive director of CBC Sports and general manager of the CBC Revenue Group, has made a decision to leave the organization. Responsibility for CBC Sports will be assumed on an interim basis by its senior director David Masse. Broadcast industry veteran Jack Tomik will lead the CBC Revenue Group, responsible for marketing, sales and business development.
"Scott's tenure covered an eventful period in the Canadian broadcasting industry generally and at CBC as well," says Kirstine Stewart, interim executive vice president of CBC English Services. "He has left CBC Sports and our revenue group well-positioned to build on their existing strengths. We'd like to thank Scott for his contributions to the organization over the past four years."
"This has been a difficult decision," Moore says. "It's been a privilege to work with great colleagues on some of the best sports programming in the world and to help build a sales and marketing team that has grown the business despite considerable market adversity. I'll always be proud of this place and what it does."
Jack Tomik, a well-known industry professional who specializes in brand, sales and marketing, has worked closely with CBC in recent years, Stewart says, and knows the organization well. "We're delighted to have Jack on board," she adds.
David Masse is a CBC Sports veteran and one of the key architects of our award-winning Beijing Olympics coverage, Hockey Night in Canada and last summer, the spectacular 2010 FIFA World Cup of Soccer.
"David is one of the most experienced sports executives in the country, with unsurpassed institutional knowledge at CBC," Stewart says. "The longstanding mission of CBC Sports is to produce the best coverage and to pursue and acquire premier sports properties for Canadian fans. That mission continues as an integral component of our schedule."
The search plan for the executive director of CBC Sports is being finalized.
