Up North connects and reflects the voices and stories that matter.
TORONTO, Aug. 11, 2014 /CNW/ - Up North, a new weekday afternoon show servicing the Northern Ontario region on CBC Radio One will begin broadcasting on Monday, August 11, 2014. Hosted by Jason Turnbull, Up North tells compelling stories that resonate with and connect the people of Northern Ontario.
While the show focuses on daily news, weather, traffic and talk, Up North will explore what Northern Ontario communities have in common and what makes them unique. The show also celebrates life in the region with great Canadian and Northern Ontario music.
Up North, airing weekdays at 4:00pm – 6:00pm EST, will replace CBC Thunder Bay's current afternoon show, Voyage North, and CBC Sudbury's Points North.
"It's a new program with a regional focus, broadcasting out of CBC Sudbury," says Susan Marjetti, Senior Managing Director of Ontario. "The mandate ensures it must speak to, and deliver on the stories that matter to Northern Ontario including Thunder Bay, Kenora, Geraldton, Dryden, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Sioux Lookout, North Bay, Timmins, Temagami, Wawa, New Liskeard, and all points in between."
