CBC Radio to take The Morning Edition off the air as it awaits approval of broadcast application
OTTAWA, April 23, 2013 /CNW/ - CBC Radio has to take its Waterloo Region local morning show, The Morning Edition, off the air -- it will continue to be available to its listeners online at http://www.cbc.ca/kitchener-waterloo/. We anticipate that this will be a temporary solution while we await final approval of our broadcast application from the CRTC.
Listeners in the Waterloo Region will continue to be able to tune in to the 89.1 FM frequency for their favourite CBC Radio programs.
CBC filed its application for the Waterloo Region service with the CRTC in June of 2012, a follow-up clarification was submitted in September 2012 and a reply to interventions was filed in December 2012. Approval has not yet been received.
The CBC apologizes to its loyal listeners in Waterloo Region for this unfortunate oversight, upon learning of the situation we moved quickly to rectify it and we hope to be back on the air soon.
