Pain Changes Everything. Chiropractic Care Changes Pain.
TORONTO, Oct. 11, 2016 /CNW/ - The Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) has launched a new social media campaign called Chiropractic Care Changed My Pain in anticipation of World Spine Day on October 16, 2016. This campaign tells the stories of people who suffer with spine, muscle, and nervous system conditions and the profound impact that chiropractors have on their lives.
Our backs hurt because we sit too much; our necks ache because we spend hours staring at computer screens. As a result, millions of Canadians move through their day enduring back and neck pain, migraines, and headaches. The CCA has also launched a new video in conjunction with this campaign about how chiropractic care can help to change your pain and get you back to leading a healthy life.
"Taking pain relievers and anti-inflammatories may temporarily mask the pain but they won't get at the underlying cause", says Dr. David Peeace, Chair, Canadian Chiropractic Association. "Chiropractic care changes pain because chiropractors are spine, muscle and nervous system experts trained to diagnose the cause of your pain, recommend treatment options to relieve that pain, and help you prevent it from coming back".
Over 11 million Canadians suffer from at least one musculoskeletal (MSK) condition annually.1 In fact, low back pain and other MSK conditions account for one-third of missed work in Canada—second only to the common cold. Sitting for prolonged periods at work and heavy manual labour can put further strain on the body's MSK system.
"There's great diversity in Canada—and in how we live and lead our lives—but our pain, that's the same. Our bodies tell the story. They carry our stresses," says Alison Dantas, Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Chiropractic Association. "Musculoskeletal pain is something everyone is touched by—either personally, or by watching another person you care about hurt by it. The Chiropractic Care Changed My Pain campaign has been developed as a place to share those important stories and have that dialogue."
