CCCA Corporate Counsel World Summit to kick off in Toronto
Corporate counsel from around the world to address legal issues that matter in today's global business
TORONTO, Sept. 23 /CNW/ - The Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA) is pleased to announce that the second Corporate Counsel World Summit will take place September 26-28 in Toronto.
Developed in collaboration with other international corporate counsel associations from around the world, the Summit is the premiere international forum facilitating discussions among Canadian and international corporate counsel professionals which are critical to the successful navigation of today's increasingly complex international business landscape.
"As today���s business and legal challenges are becoming increasingly global, so is the role of corporate counsel," says Cheryl Foy, President, Canadian Corporate Counsel Association. "Providing corporate counsel professionals with critical legal and business knowledge and international networking opportunities, the Summit will support Canada's corporate counsel in proactively anticipating and responding to business challenges and opportunities here at home and in a global business environment."
Keynote speakers for the Summit include:
- Benjamin W. Heineman, Jr., former Senior Vice President - General Counsel and Senior Vice President for Law and Public Affairs at General Electric and author of High Performance with high integrity, which provides guidelines for ethical leadership in a high-pressure global economy;
- Parag Khanna, Economic Foreign Policy Expert and Director of the Global Governance Initiative, Senior Research Fellow at the New America Foundation and author of The Second World: Empires and Influence in the New Global Order, discussing the 21st century's emerging geopolitical landscape; and
- Sebastian Junger, award-winning journalist and contributing editor to Vanity Fair, who spent over a year embedded with battle company of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, in the remote and heavily contested Korengal valley of eastern Afghanistan and whose newest book WAR and award-winning documentary "Restrepo" capture this experience from a soldier's prospective.

The CCCA 2010 Corporate Counsel World Summit will take place on September 26-28 at the Toronto Hilton in downtown Toronto and will be co-chaired by Isabelle M. Hautot, General Counsel at France Telecom, and Alain C. Rondeau, Vice President - Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp.
In 2009, corporate counsel from 14 countries attended the inaugural World Summit in Vancouver, demonstrating the importance of such international forums to the success of the global corporate counsel community.
