OTTAWA, June 9, 2016 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, invites the public to watch great Canadian films under the stars at the third annual Rideau Hall Movie Nights, on the evenings of June 29 and 30, 2016. This unique event features acclaimed English- and French-Canadian films, on alternate nights, screened outdoors on the grounds of Rideau Hall. The film selection will be announced at a later date.
"Rideau Hall Movie Nights is an opportunity for Canadians to sit back and enjoy our incredible homegrown film industry talent," said the Governor General. "Canadian films have been met with tremendous international success and it's important that we celebrate this success at home as well. I can't think of a better place to do this then at Rideau Hall, a place where all Canadians are welcomed."
The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General is partnering with Canadian organizations who are committed to promoting Canada's cultural vitality: Air Canada; Association québécoise de la production médiatique; Bell Media; Canada Media Fund; Canadian Film Institute; Canadian Media Production Association; Cineplex Entertainment; Deluxe; Entertainment One (eOne); Eye on Canada; the National Capital Commission; and Telefilm Canada.
