Celebrating 25 years of "Women of Courage"
TORONTO, Oct. 4, 2012 /CNW/ - On Tuesday October 9th Outward Bound Canada's Women of Courage (WOC) Program will be celebrating its 25thanniversary with an evening of wine and cheese. The event is sponsored by Tory's LLP Toronto office and supported by the Women in Capital Markets (WCM) non-profit organization.
The Women of Courage Program provides women survivors of violence the opportunity to experience the adventure and beauty of the wilderness alongside others with a similar history and through the experience find the strength to move from "crisis" to a "place of strength. " Since 1988, over 1000 women have participated in the program, free of charge.
Alumni will share with guests the impact their involvement in the program has had on their lives and Outward Bound Staff will share future plans for the expansion of the program so that more women and girls across the country can participate.
Outward Bound Canada (OBC) is a not-for-profit, charitable, educational organization that has been operating in Canada for 43 years. Outward Bound Canada's mission is to cultivate resilience, leadership, connections and compassion through inspiring and challenging journeys of self-discovery in the natural world.
