Celebrating Animal Heroes from Coast-to-Coast
Five courageous animals to be inducted into the 2014 Purina Animal Hall of Fame
TORONTO, May 1, 2014 /CNW/ - Four fearless pets and one valiant service animal will be recognized for their life-saving feats on Monday, May 5th at the 46th annual Purina Animal Hall of Fame. These four-legged heroes join the ranks of other animals that have come to the rescue in dire situations to protect, and ultimately save, a human life. Their remarkable stories demonstrate bravery, loyalty and devotion.
Founded in 1968, the Purina Animal Hall of Fame is the longest running pet recognition program in Canada and has inducted 164 animals who have saved a human life, including 136 dogs, 27 cats and one horse. The 2014 inductees have been carefully selected from many cross-country nominations submitted by those impacted by the heroic acts exhibited by a pet or service animal over the past year. Their stories of these amazing life-saving deeds exemplify the unique bond between people and pets.
Media are invited to attend the exclusive induction ceremony held at Purina PawsWay, where the stories of the 2014 inductees will be shared by some notable pet enthusiasts. The Purina Animal Hall of Fame ceremony will be hosted by television personality Steve Anthony and will feature inductee presentations from special guests, Barbara Steinhoff, Rick Campanelli, Melanie Ng, and Darren B. Lamb.
