Montréal, the city that will not sleep

MONTRÉAL, March 3, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - This week, for Montréal's 375^th anniversary, the proposed activities are going to keep Montrealers awake with the 14^th "Nuit Blanche" of MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE, on Saturday, March 4^th. The city's history and architecture will also be featured with "Archifête 375", a festive event dedicated to Ville-Marie's neighbourhoods. In addition, the first phase of "Pleine lumière sur les Filles du Roy" will be introduced during a cocktail reception on the evening of March 8^th – a unique way of showcasing the 17^th century art of living!

New events

Festival d'hiver
Pointe-aux-Fêtes invites you to face winter with festive activities. Come experience this new festival in Rivière-des-Prairies/Pointe-aux-Trembles. There will be an opening show on Friday evening, March 3^rd and a family day full of activities awaits you on Saturday followed by an evening show.

The Outremont Yard: Railroad Memories
The Park Extension Historical Society and the Société d'histoire d'Outremont present a project in three parts (exhibition, screenings and walking tours) about the former Outremont rail yard's history. The SCREENING SERIES explores the thematic of trains. A program of short films on trains and the Expo 67 will be presented as part of "Nuit Blanche".

Nuit Blanche
A "Nuit Blanche" in the colours of Expo 67 offers more than 200 free activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this historic event. Celebrating the optimism, openness to the world and appeal of modernism that characterized Expo 67, the unique programming showcases the values and dynamism that transformed the city at the time. Infusing this 14^th edition of "Nuit Blanche" with a brand-new dose of innovation and daring, it will become yet another special way to celebrate the history of the city.

Archifête 375
"Archifête 375" is a cultural and festive project to celebrate the architecture of Ville-Marie's neighborhoods, where the architects and the citizens will have occasions to meet. Visits and workshops will take place in 2017 in Ville-Marie in preparation for an exhibition and architectural celebration!

Pleine lumière sur les Filles du Roy
Actors portraying the King's Daughters will host various participatory activities that highlight life in the 17^th century, including small scenes of everyday life depicting the peculiarities of the time: the objects used, food, working the land, clothing and particularly, the influence of contact with Aboriginal nations.
March 8^th 2017 at 5 pm – Maison de la culture Mercier: Cocktail reception to introduce the "King's Daughters of Montréal" event. Work session on the challenges related to integration.

Tomorrow People
The exhibition "Tomorrow" at OBORO opens a year devoted to Aboriginal artists from the nations that form the territory of current-day Canada. Skawennati tells stories in analog and digital form that take a close look at the notion of time and identity, while machinamas (a technique using video sequences filmed inside virtual spaces), digital prints, photographs and sculptures deftly blend history, tradition, cyberspace and science fiction.

Illuminart
The massive "Illuminart" project is a program of technological works launched as part of MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE and the festivities of the 375^th anniversary of Montréal. The installations, which are dotted throughout the Quartier des spectacles and elsewhere in the borough of Ville-Marie, feature illuminating, interactive and immersive cutting-edge creations.
