Centennial College gives back with free lectures, workshops and exhibits at
Fast Forward 2010
TORONTO, April 6 /CNW/ - One of Canada's best communications, media and design schools, The Centre for Creative Communications at Centennial College, is opening its doors to the public this spring for a day of free guest-speaker talks, career skills workshops, film screenings and exhibits.
On Saturday, April 24, The Centre for Creative Communications is presenting Fast Forward 2010, its second annual event where it gives back to its students, graduates, local community and industry partners. The free talks will feature Canadian documentary filmmaker Kevin McMahon (Waterlife), Citytv reporter Kris Reyes, MuchMusic's Michael Williams, Desgrassi: The Next Generation's (and Canadian recording artist) Cassie Steele, and many others.
In addition, The Centre will offer free workshops and introductory classes in digital animation and game design, digital filmmaking, journalism, graphic design, book publishing and more.
"The Centre for Creative Communications has always been an indispensable resource, not only for the next generation of communications, media and design professionals, but also for practitioners currently in the industry," says Nate Horowitz, Dean of The Centre. "From the ancient art of telling powerful stories to what's next in social media, we have always been at the forefront."
Dedicated to digital media in all its forms, The Centre for Creative Communications opened in the fall of 1994. Today it's home to nearly 750 full-time students enrolled in the School of Communications, Media and Design. Located in mid-town Toronto, the Centennial College campus achieved fame during the CBC Television series Degrassi High, which was filmed on location between 1989 and 1991.
Fast Forward 2010 takes place between noon and 4 pm at The Centre, 951 Carlaw Ave. at Mortimer, just east of Pape. Advanced registration and group tours are welcome. For more details, visit: www.centennialcollege.ca/thecentre/fastforward.
