Centennial College hosts sports journalism panel in association with CAJ and The Sports Group

TORONTO, Aug. 21, 2012 /CNW/ - Centennial College, Canadian Association of Journalists, and The Sports Group have partnered up to present Fast Break, a sports journalism panel to educate students and professionals about how to break into the sports industry.

Taking place at Centennial College's Centre for Creative Communications campus on Sept. 18, panelists will discuss the grind of breaking into the competitive industry, share their struggles and rise to success, and also give advice to hopefuls that aspire to work in sports. 

The panelists will include Tas Melas, the co-founder and co-host for The Basketball Jones on The Score Television Network, Chris Jones, columnist for ESPN the Magazine, Julie Scott, sports editor for The Canadian Press, and Akil Augustine, host and producer for NBA TV Canada.

It will then conclude with a social where guests can listen to music, enjoy appetizers and refreshments, while also building their professional network. 

The event will run from 7-9:30 p.m., with registration starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for students, $15 for CAJ members, and $25 for the general public. Lots of great door prizes will be included and each guest will receive a complimentary gift bag for attending.
