Centennial College's 'kinder, gentler summit' will send message to G20

TORONTO, May 18 /CNW/ - The pen is mightier than the sword.
The keyboard has replaced the pen since English author Edward Bulwer-Lytton coined the phrase more than 170 years ago. But the might of words prevails, made even more powerful today by our ability to potentially reach millions of readers with a simple keystroke.
Centennial College is inviting Canadians to join its Shadow Summit at www.humanracebook.com. The online summit, which will "shadow" the G20 Leaders Summit, June 21 to 30, will offer Centennial students and site visitors a platform where they can take a stand on the same issues as G20 leaders, vote on policies that impact our world, and write in the "Book of Voices" being forwarded to G20 dignitaries.
"The Shadow Summit will be a kinder, gentler summit where people can have their voices heard without shouting past barricades and riot shields," says Centennial's President and CEO Ann Buller. "It's an electronic platform that can't be corralled into a back lot somewhere. Instead, our Book of Voices will be heard not only by the G20 leaders, but by the world."
Centennial College knows the power of words. Its www.humanracebook.com site is a meeting place where Centennial students connect with the world and debate its issues. Through its groundbreaking Signature Learning Experience (SLE), Centennial encourages its students to participate in respectful, open-minded dialogue as they develop their critical-thinking skills.
The SLE is Centennial College's promise to students of a distinctive, inclusive education experience that builds on a foundation of global citizenship, equity and inclusion.
"We encourage our students to become not just exceptional graduates, but global citizens ready to make a difference in the workplace and the world," says Buller.
Centennial College encourages everyone to add their voice to the Book of Voices. Join the Shadow Summit at www.humanracebook.com. Placards are optional.
