Centerplate Wins Big With PCMA Best Of Show Convention Center Honors
Award-Winning Publication Taps Centerplate for "Best Food and Beverage" Honors
STAMFORD, Conn., Aug. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - The awards continue to pile up for Centerplate, America's leading event hospitality partner, as America's leading convention management organization today recognized Centerplate with not one, but two "Best of Show" honors for "Best Food and Beverage." Convene, the official publication of the Professional Convention Managers Association today released the results of its inaugural "Best of Show" issue honoring the best meetings industry venues, destinations, and service providers in 10 categories, as voted on by Convene's readers and editors.
"It's an honor to see our efforts being honored in a Best in Show selection," said John Vingas, Centerplate's Senior Vice President. "We pride ourselves in being number one in event hospitality and providing our clients and guests the best hospitality at each event. Only two convention centers were honored and both are operated by Centerplate."
All told, "Convene" honored five venues in the "Best of Show, Best Food and Beverage" category. Only two of the five venues were convention centers, both of which were Centerplate partner properties.
Convene editor, Michelle Russell emphasized that, with these awards, the award-winning publication is recognizing the most innovative players in the event hospitality industry.
"Once we committed to producing an August issue, we knew we had to do something special to really have it make a splash," said Michelle Russell, Convene's editor in chief. "Our Best in Show program is classic Convene in that it's something new for us, its fun, and it shines a light on some of the most innovative players in the meetings industry."
At the San Diego Convention Center and Vancouver Convention Center, Centerplate is especially proud of its increased focus on locally sourced organic ingredients. Additional offerings include a customized Dessert Station, Roasted Apple and Beet Salad, as well as an increased number of Gluten-Free and Vegan menu options.
