MONTREAL, Dec. 7, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Hydro-Québec is proud to contribute over $5 million dollars to Centraide thanks to the participation and generosity of its employees and pensioners.
"Supporting organizations that work with the less fortunate in order to improve their quality of life is a value that is particularly important to us", said Michael D. Penner, Hydro-Québec's Chairman of the Board of Directors and co-chair of the company's Centraide campaign. The donation will go towards supporting thousands of people through more than 1,600 organizations across Québec that help young people succeed or provide assistance to low-income families.
"Once again, Hydro-Québec's employees and pensioners have demonstrated their generosity by surpassing the initial forecasts set when the campaign got underway, which is something we can be proud of!", said Richard Perreault, President of Hydro-Québec's tradespeople union and co-chair of the company's Centraide campaign.
The enthusiasm demonstrated by the company's employees and pensioners delighted Hydro-Québec's President and Chief Executive Officer, Éric Martel, who highlighted "the significant involvement of the campaign's ambassadors, employees and pensioners and its trade union partners who contributed to making the 2015 Centraide campaign a success." "This extraordinary show of solidarity led to an increase of about $1 million over last year, and I am very proud," he continued.
Hydro-Québec has supported Centraide for 39 years and is one of the Québec's major corporate donors.
