Centris Residential Sales Statistics - January 2019 - Robust Start to 2019 on Montreal's Residential Real Estate Market Français
L'ÎLE-DES-SŒURS, QC, Feb. 6, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers (QPAREB) has just released its most recent residential real estate market statistics for the Montreal Census Metropolitan Area (CMA), based on the real estate brokers' Centris provincial database.
In total, 2,976 residential sales were concluded in January 2019, a 15 per cent increase compared to January of last year. This was the 47th consecutive increase in sales.

Sales by geographic area
- All six main areas of the Montreal CMA registered an increase in sales in January.
- Laval, Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the North Shore and the South Shore stood out with respective sales increases of 30 per cent, 23 per cent, 22 per cent and 17 per cent.
- Sales also increased on the Island of Montreal (+6 per cent) and in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (+2 per cent).
Sales by property category
- Across the Montreal CMA, single-family home and condominium transactions both increased by 17 per cent to reach 1,674 sales and 1,053 sales, respectively. Plex sales fell by 3 per cent, with 247 transactions.
Prices
- The median price of single-family homes and condominiums across the CMA continued to climb in January, reaching $316,000 (+3 per cent) and $248,271 (+2 per cent), respectively.
- The median price of plexes registered a solid increase of 4 per cent compared to January 2018 to reach $515,000.
Number of properties for sale
In January, there were 20,873 active residential listings in the Montreal CMA, a 16 per cent drop compared to one year earlier.
