Initiative To Improve The Quality of Life Within Communities Across Canada And Invigorate Employee Engagement In Corporate Social Responsibility Efforts
TORONTO, Dec. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Ceridian Canada announces the launch of Ceridian Cares - the organization's very own charity whose mission is to improve the quality of life within communities across Canada by providing financial assistance directly to individuals and families in need.
"We believe that organizations such as ours need to integrate socially responsible behavior into everyday practices," says Dave MacKay, President of Ceridian HCM and Chair of the Ceridian Cares Board of Directors. "With Ceridian Cares, our employees are not only unified with a common goal of collectively fund raising, they also have a say in how the funds are spent. As such, there's been an incredible amount of support and enthusiasm from employees across Canada from all levels of the organization. Our immediate focus now is on delivering grants to families and individuals who require help."
Ceridian employees generously donated over $189,000 in one week of fundraising. Add that to the company donation, and Ceridian Cares has over $300,000 available for grants right now.
Ceridian Cares grants support requests for medical equipment, special therapies and home adjustments for barrier-free living. Ceridian Cares grants also provide assistance for children's activities, clothing, as well as food for families who are struggling to make ends meet.
Families such as the Jacksons have their own Ceridian Cares story to tell. In May 2013, Ceridian Cares funded the purchase and installation of a wheelchair lift for Jasmine Jackson, helping the spirited ten-year old gain the independence she craves and deserves. A preview of Jasmine's touching story in her family's own words can be viewed here.
"Ceridian Cares believes that all Canadians, no matter their background, religion or lifestyle, should have access to basic necessities, including food, appropriate shelter, as well as physical and emotional well-being," says Dave MacKay. "As an organization, we've always recognized the value of 'giving where we're living' and look forward to helping make a difference in someone's life in the very near future."
