Certified Management Accountants of Ontario are number one with largest graduating class of any professional accounting designation across Canada

TORONTO, Oct. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Certified Management Accountants of Ontario is proud to announce the largest graduating class of any professional accounting designation across Canada.

This year, 1,232 students convocated at CMA Ontario's graduation ceremony October 27 held at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto.

"More accountants, as CMAs, will graduate this year than any other accounting body in any jurisdiction in Canada," says Merv Hillier, MBA, FCMA, C.Dir., CMC, President and Chief Executive Officer, CMA Ontario. "The business community is clearly indicating that there is a need for the principles of management and strategy in accounting. This powerful  combination of skills defines a CMA's unique value to organizations and makes CMA the designation of choice for accounting professionals in management."

Coined as the "designation of choice", a CMA opens the door to a competitive income, a broad range of career opportunities and exciting workplace challenges. CMA Ontario offers different paths to candidates whether they are post-secondary students with an interest in business or accounting, or professionals in the workplace looking to advance their career.

The Certified Management Accountants of Ontario is a self-governing professional organization that awards the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation to qualified candidates in Ontario. With some 25,000 members, CMA Ontario is an integral part of a profession that is 50,000 members strong across Canada and around the world. CMA Ontario maintains rigorous standards of accreditation and professionalism in management accounting to protect the public interest.  Earlier this year, CMA Ontario was granted status by the Public Accountants Council for the Province of Ontario (PAC) as an Authorized Designated Body to license and govern Certified Management Accountants to practise public accounting.
