Certified Management Accountants of Ontario names four new Fellows
Fellows recognized for their outstanding professional and community contributions
TORONTO, Oct. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - Certified Management Accountants of Ontario is proud to announce the appointment of four new Fellows to The Society of Certified Management Accountants of Canada (FCMA). Since the inception of the FCMA designation, 859 have been awarded across Canada with 229 from Ontario.
The FCMA designation is a prestigious, national honourary designation awarded to Certified Management Accountants (CMA) who, through their outstanding achievements including community leadership, bring distinction to the management accounting profession and serve as a role model to others.
The 2013 Fellows are:
- Victoria Davies, FCMA of Toronto, Ontario. Ms. Davies is the Chief Financial Officer at Knightsbridge Human Capital Solutions, a global human capital consulting firm. Over the past 20 years she has been a champion of the CMA designation, mentoring future CMAs, participating as a conference panelist and serving as a member of the CMA Leadership Award review panel. Ms. Davies is also actively involved in the community and is a member of several boards including Appleby College and The Churchill Society for the Advancement of Parliamentary Democracy.
- Hesham Shafie, FCMA of Toronto, Ontario. Mr. Shafie is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Brand Momentum Inc., a leading marketing, sales and merchandising agency. He is an active member of CMA Ontario, serving as a mentor to CMA candidates and as a member of CMA Ontario's Disciplinary Committee. Mr. Shafie volunteers his time to several organizations including Skills for Change, where he mentors newcomers to Canada. His commitment to community-building also culminated in the creation of Life Momentum, the corporate social responsibility arm of Brand Momentum Inc.
- Natasa Veljovic, FCMA of Woodstock, Ontario. Ms. Veljovic is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Woodstock Hospital. She is recognized for supporting the CMA designation through her service at the District level (Southwestern Ontario), as well as volunteering as an evaluator for CMA's Executive Review presentations, a final evaluative component of the CMA Executive program. Ms. Veljovic also serves on a number of boards and Provincial Committees including Ontario Hospital Association Regional Advisory Committee, Fanshawe College Foundation Board and Woodstock Hospital Foundation.
- Allister Young, FCMA of St. Catharines, Ontario. Mr. Young is an Associate Professor at the Goodman School of Business, Brock University. He has been a keen advocate of CMA Ontario for the past 30 years, where he established the Brock Accounting Research and Education Centre and has been actively promoting the Brock CMA/MBA program. Mr. Young has also volunteered his time to community initiatives including Lakeview Daycare and the Grimsby Amateur Baseball Association, as well as established the Community Volunteer Income Tax Clinic at Brock University.
Experienced in the "three pillars" of the profession - accounting, management and strategy - CMAs are strategic and financial management professionals who contribute to the bottom line success of organizations by understanding all areas of business.
The FCMA designation demonstrates excellence in management accounting, commitment and pride to CMA Ontario, and active involvement in improving the well-being of their respective communities that brings respect to the member and the management accounting profession. FCMAs are nominated by their peers, who have recognized their exemplary qualities and contributions.
