CGA Ontario Congratulates 870 Newly Accredited Certified General Accountants
TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2013 /CNW/ - Certified General Accountants of Ontario will admit 870 new members into its membership and the accounting profession on Saturday, November 9, at its 2013 admission to membership ceremonies, following its annual conference taking place at Toronto's Westin Harbour Castle. This conference is the premier professional development event for CGAs and accounting and finance professionals. This year the Association is honoured to have Deepak Chopra, FCGA, president & CEO, Canada Post Corporation, as keynote speaker where he will address Canada Post's Role in the New Economy.
The admission to membership ceremonies mark years of hard work, dedicated study and work-life balance. Each new CGA has adhered to the highest professional standards, successfully completing the rigorous CGA program of professional studies and practical work experience requirement to be a certified general accountant and qualify for membership.
"Success is not built alone. Success is built, brick by brick, by many hands," notes Anthony Stilo, CGA Ontario, chair, board of directors. "Students in the CGA program of professional studies are supported by their colleagues, friends and family in their success. CGA Ontario recognizes the hard work put forth by all 870 new CGAs and welcomes them to membership.
During these ceremonies, CGA Ontario will proudly recognize a number of academic excellence award recipients:
- Attaul Hamid, CGA, being awarded with the prestigious T.H. Frankling medal granted in recognition of accounting excellence at the professional evaluation stage of the CGA program.
- Marco Jotic, CGA, being awarded with CGA Canada's ENCON Group Inc. Insurance Public Practice award is granted to a new CGA who attains the highest average marks in the Public Practice Career Option.
