HELSINKI, Finland, Oct. 29, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) today announced that it has launched a new Cybersecurity Center in Finland. CGI continues to invest in its global cybersecurity capabilities, and this new Center is the latest addition to an expanding network of resources and expertise that protect enterprises and government organizations from cyber attacks.
Within the new Center, certified security experts monitor threats, attacks and malware across networks and data communications, as well as implement cyber defence measures.
"This is a major investment in Finland and a significant new service for Finnish companies and government entities," said Tapio Volanen, Senior Vice-President of CGI's operations in Finland. "Our Cybersecurity Center serves locally around the clock, but also offers our Finnish clients access to a global network of highly experienced security experts. Security threats do not respect geographical boundaries. Therefore, monitoring must be in place in every corner of the world to protect a business in a genuinely proactive way."
The new Center is intended to serve not only Finland but also other Nordic countries, taking advantage of the expertise and capabilities of CGI Security Operation Centers (SOC) from around the world.
"As part of CGI's global approach to cyber threat management, this new Cybersecurity Center will increase CGI's ability to not only serve our government and commercial clients in the Nordic countries, but also provide key threat intelligence to protect our clients around the world," said John Proctor, Global Vice-President, Cybersecurity, CGI.
"Our new Cybersecurity Center offers a broad portfolio of cybersecurity services, including preventative, monitoring and corrective services that deliver comprehensive protection to our clients, whether they operate exclusively in Finland or also in other locations worldwide," added CGI's Jan Mickos, Director of Cybersecurity Services in Finland.
Through its global network of SOCs and other cybersecurity services, CGI has a 360-degree view of threats across sectors and geographies. CGI's work in the private and public sectors across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific gives its experts an understanding of cybersecurity from all angles—technology, business and legal. In addition, while cyber threats are global, requirements vary locally. As a local security partner, CGI understands the local environment and can be onsite quickly to manage an incident. The goal of its work is to give clients the peace of mind to focus on what's most important—serving the public or growing the business.
