Champlain Bridge Corridor: CONFIRMATION of Work BLITZ 3 this weekend starting on the night of Friday, June 15 Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, June 15, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to CONFIRM road users that the major work blitz will continue on the Champlain Bridge corridor over the coming weekend, beginning on the night of Friday, June 15. These works will allow us to carry out paving work, repair the roadway and replace expansion joints.
Between Friday, 10 p.m. to Monday, 5 a.m., only one lane will be open to circulation in each direction on Highway 15, between Atwater and L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge. On the Champlain Bridge, two lanes will be open towards Montreal and one lane will be open towards the South Shore.
Just like the past weekends, it is important to note that during this period lane width will be reduced to 3 meters in both directions, on the Champlain Bridge corridor. Vehicles exceeding this width should take alternate routes.
Also note that during this period the exit ramp from the Champlain Bridge to Route 132 will be completely closed. Other ramps will also be closed on Highway 15, on the Montreal side of the bridge (full details on www.champlainbridge.ca).
Remember that these work blitzes could continue over the coming weekends depending on the progress of the scheduled road work. So far, two weekend work blitzes have taken place on the Champlain Bridge corridor.
Let us remind you that in order to reduce the amount of traffic hindrances, significant efforts have been made to concentrate work during spring, mostly over weekends. For example, last year there were 10 major weekend closures on the Champlain Bridge corridor, while this year the Corporation plans to have three to six major work weekends, depending on weather conditions, which is essentially twice as few.
