Champlain Bridge Corridor to be Avoided: Major work BLITZ to take place on weekends Starting on Friday night, May 18 Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, May 15, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to advise road users that major work blitzes will be taking place on the Champlain Bridge corridor during weekends, beginning Friday night, May 18th. These work blitzes, contingent on the weather, will allow us to carry out paving work, repair the roadway, replace expansion joints as well as the central median.
During this period, only one lane will be open to circulation in each direction on Highway 15, at the entrance of the Bridge. One or two lanes will be open on the Bridge, depending on the work schedule (please consult the detailed calendar below).
Please note that the access and exit ramps of the Champlain Bridge on route 132 will be entirely closed during the first week-end of these major works blitz.
It is important to keep in mind that the schedule is subject to changes, depending on weather conditions. A notice will be published on our blog (www.champlainbridge.ca) around 3:30 p.m. every Friday with the latest updates.

Let us remind you that in order to reduce the amount of traffic hindrances, significant efforts have been made to concentrate work during the spring periods, mostly over weekends. For example, last year there were 10 major weekend closures on the Champlain Bridge corridor, while this year the Corporation plans to have three to six major work weekends, depending on weather conditions, which is essentially twice as few.
To do so, a thorough plan has been established to encourage the concentration of several worksites on the Champlain Bridge corridor over the same period. Each weekend, the Corporation will invest approximately $2.1 million (value of the work) in the Champlain Bridge corridor, which is almost twice as much as last year.
To follow the work on the Champlain Bridge corridor, which is subject to changes according to weather conditions, road users are invited to regularly visit our blog www.champlainbridge.ca to plan their weekend trips.
