Champlain Bridge: Major work affecting northbound and southbound traffic from
September 10th to September 13th
One traffic lane towards Montreal and the South Shore
Three alternatives: Victoria, Jacques Cartier and Honoré Mercier Bridges
LONGUEUIL, QC, Sept. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce important lane closures from Friday, September 10th until Monday, September 13th.
- Friday, 10 PM to Monday, 5 AM: One lane will be available to traffic towards Montreal, across the Champlain Bridge.
- Friday, midnight to Sunday, noon: One lane will be available to traffic towards the South Shore, at the L'Île-des-Soeurs Bridge only.
This major work will have a considerable impact on the flow of traffic. Note, however, that access to the Champlain Bridge via the Bonaventure Expressway will be available, and this serves as an excellent option in order to avoid the work towards the South Shore, taking place on the L'Île-des-Soeurs Bridge only (Highway 15 South). It is strongly recommended that motorists use the Jacques Cartier, Victoria or Honoré Mercier Bridges, during this period. The Jacques Cartier Bridge will open the center lane, according to the prevailing demand of traffic, in either direction.
Once this work is finished, the major work planned this year on the Champlain Bridge will be completed. However, it is important to note that the work will continue on the L'Île-des-Soeurs Bridge for three weekends. These closures limit the opening of the L'Île-des-Soeurs Bridge to one lane in the direction of the work. In all cases, the work will take place from Friday, midnight to Sunday, noon:
- September 17th to September 19th (one northbound lane)
- September 24th to September 26th (one lane in each direction)
- October 1st to October 3rd (one lane in each direction)
Remember that the L'Île-des-Soeurs Bridge connects Highway 15 (North and South) to the Champlain Bridge. During these closures, access to the Champlain Bridge via the Bonaventure Expressway is available. Various entrance and exit closures to Highway 15 are also expected during this period. This work allows for the reparation of concrete deck panels and expansion joints of the L'Île-des-Soeurs Bridge, as well as paving on the main viaduct and on the L'Île-des-Soeurs Bridge. Note that this work could be postponed depending on weather conditions.
