Champlain Bridge: Major Work this weekend - Special opening of Victoria

LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce the special opening of the Victoria Bridge in one direction at night to compensate for our work on the Champlain Bridge this weekend. This will begin as early as this Friday, August 6, where we invite motorists to use the Victoria Bridge at night due to the construction taking place towards the South Shore.

We will evaluate motorist behaviour this weekend, and will make any required adjustments for next weekends, if necessary.

Here is the proposed timeframe for the opening of the Victoria Bridge this weekend:

From August 6 to the 9th:

    
    - Friday, August 6 at 10 PM to Saturday, August 7 at 10 AM: 2 lanes open
      towards the South Shore
    - Saturday, August 7 at midnight to Sunday, August 8 at 10 AM: 2 lanes
      open towards the South Shore
    - Sunday, August 8 at 10 PM to Monday, August 9 at 5 AM: 2 lanes open
      towards the South Shore
    

We wish to remind you that there will be numerous lane closures on the Champlain Bridge every weekend from August 6 to September 20. In each case, the lanes will be closed from Friday, 10 PM to Monday, 5 AM. During this road work, two lanes, or sometimes even just one lane, will be open on the Champlain Bridge in each direction (north and south) rather than the usual three.

During the repair work, which includes three major closures, we recommend that motorists use the Jacques Cartier, Victoria or even the Honoré Mercier Bridge. In a special arrangement, the two lanes on the Victoria Bridge will be open to traffic in one direction at specific times to help reduce the impact of the closure of the Champlain Bridge (check scheduled above). Depending on traffic levels, three lanes may also be open in one direction on the Jacques Cartier Bridge.
