Champlain Bridge: Paving completed, cancellation of planned closures from
September 3rd to 6th - Next up: From September 10th to 13th
LONGUEUIL, QC, Sept. 1 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce that the important planned closures for September 3rd to 6th, in regards to major work on the Champlain Bridge, is no longer necessary. All paving work to be performed on the three southbound lanes on the main section of the bridge over the river was completed last weekend (August 27 to 30). All conditions came together to ensure that this work was carried out diligently and efficiently.
The replacement of the Champlain Bridge's two expansion joints on all three Montreal-bound lanes will take place on Friday, September 10th at 10 PM to Monday, September 13th at 5 AM. During this period, one Montreal-bound lane will be open, and two southbound lanes. Motorists are encouraged to use alternated routes to avoid the Champlain Bridge during this time.
Once this work is complete, the major work that was planned for the Champlain Bridge this year will be achieved. However, it is important to note that work is planned for this fall on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge for four weekends. Note that the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge allows access to Highway 15 (North and South) and to the Champlain Bridge. Different closures on the various approaches of Highway 15 are also planned during this period.
