Champlain Bridge: update on the paving work, and closure towards Montreal, on
the night of Friday, August 13 to Saturday, August 14
LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 12 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to announce the night closure of two out of three lanes on the Champlain Bridge, towards Montreal, from Friday, August 13, 11 PM to Saturday morning, August 14, 8 AM. Please note that a first lane will be close at 9 PM. This work will complete the reparation of a joint on the Champlain Bridge.
We also wish to inform you that the paving work that begun last weekend went very smoothly. The conditions were excellent and the contractor was very efficient. All of track number 3 was repaved towards the South Shore, and this, all in one weekend. This work was planned for over two weekends; therefore, the paving scheduled for next weekend (August 13 to 16) will not be necessary. There will be no major work over the upcoming weekend, besides the repair of the joint on Friday night to Saturday morning.
However, significant further closures are expected on the Champlain Bridge, especially from August 20 to 23, while only one lane will be available towards the South Shore for the entire weekend. More than ever, motorists are encouraged to use other alternatives, or simply avoid the Champlain Bridge; otherwise the traffic will be very heavy.
