Champlain Corridor: BLITZ 4 work weekend resumes on June 29 & 30 - Fourth weekend of work only on the A-15 and île des Sœurs Bridge Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, June 26, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to advise road users that the fourth weekend work BLITZ in the Champlain Corridor will resume starting Saturday, June 29 at 00:30 a.m.* until Monday, July 1, at 9 a.m. following its postponement due to adverse weather conditions.
*The work will begin after the reopening of the Jacques Cartier Bridge closed on Friday night for La Ronde fireworks.
This fourth BLITZ will take place only on the A-15 and the île des Sœurs Bridge, as main major work planned this year for the Champlain Bridge was completed in the first three work BLITZES.
Using the Bonaventure Expressway is an excellent option to consider if you want to avoid the A-15 worksite when accessing or exiting the Champlain Bridge.
For the weekend, the installation of road signs on the A-15 will begin Friday night at 11:30 p.m. towards the North and towards the South, causing the closure of a first lane. Here is the lane configuration for the weekend:
- A-15: a single lane going North and South at the entrance to the Champlain Bridge on the Montreal side until Atwater (including the île des Sœurs Bridge)
It is important to note that during this period the width of lanes on the A-15 will be reduced to three metres in both directions. Trucks exceeding this width will have to take alternative routes.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the Champlain Corridor and take the Jacques Cartier, Victoria or Honoré Mercier Bridges, or the Louis Hippolyte Lafontaine Bridge-Tunnel, to access or leave the Island of Montreal.
The speed limit on the network will be reduced to 50 km/h.
Note that this work may be postponed depending on weather conditions. A notice will be posted on our blog (www.champlainbridge.ca) every Friday at 3:30 p.m. to advise drivers if the work will go ahead, depending on the weather forecast.
