LONGUEUIL, QC, May 23, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to confirm to road users that the second Blitz of major work will take place in the Champlain Corridor, from Friday, May 23, at 9:00 p.m. to Monday, May 25, at 5:00 a.m.
This second weekend of major work of the 2014 season will allow us to work day and night on various projects on the île des Sœurs Bridge and the Champlain Bridge. Work on the A-15 have been postponed and the A-15 will be open both directions as usual.
As the work planned on the Champlain Bridge will occur towards Montréal and not the South-Shore, the configuration of lanes for this Blitz will not allow us to complete the removal of the super beam. This operation will take place later in another spring Blitz. Consult our 2014 Work Calendar.
Road users are encouraged to avoid the Champlain Bridge corridor, where traffic will be particularly heavy, and instead use the Jacques-Cartier, Victoria or Honoré-Mercier Bridges, as well as the Louis-Hippolyte-Lafontaine Bridge-Tunnel, to access or leave the island of Montreal.
Details of the closures in the Champlain Corridor
A-15
- North : Two lanes opened
- South : Two lanes opened
Île des Sœurs Bridge

- Exit 60 of A-15 North to A-Bonaventure and Verdun CLOSED
Victoria Bridge
- One lane per direction for the Week-end
- Exception: two lanes towards the South Shore Sunday, 10 p.m. to midnight
Since no road work is planned this weekend for A-Bonaventure in both directions, this highway is an excellent choice to get to Montréal or the Champlain Bridge.
It is important to note that the lane width will be reduced to 3 meters during this period on the A-15 in both directions. Trucks that require wider lanes will have to use alternate routes.
We invite you to refer to our presentation to see all the access and exit ramps that will be closed while this work takes place, as well as the detours that will be set up. The speed limit on the network will be reduced to 50 km/h.
