Champlain Corridor: weekend work BLITZ 4 - Fourth weekend of work only on the A-15 and île des Sœurs Bridge Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, May 22, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to advise road users that the fourth (possibly the last) weekend work BLITZ in the Champlain Corridor will take place from Friday, May 24, at 10 p.m., to Monday, May 27, at 5 a.m.
This fourth BLITZ will take place on the A-15 and the île des Sœurs Bridge, as the major work planned this year for the Champlain Bridge was completed in the first three work BLITZES.
Using the Bonaventure Expressway is an excellent option to consider if you want to avoid the A-15 worksite when accessing or exiting the Champlain Bridge.
This means that all major work was completed in three weekends on the Champlain Bridge, including paving the entire bridge and completely replacing four expansion joints. Over the next few months work will mainly continue under the bridge and on the piers, beams and deck until winter.
Night closures are also to be expected and will be announced on a daily basis on champlainbridge.ca blog. Please note that two lanes in three on the Champlain Bridge towards Montreal will be closed at night on Friday, May 24, from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. and Saturday, May 25, also from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
For the weekend, the installation of road signs on the A-15 will begin Friday night at 7:30 p.m. towards the North and at 8:30 p.m. towards the South, causing the closure of a first lane.
Here is the lane configuration for the weekend:
- A-15: a single lane going North and South at the entrance to the Champlain Bridge on the Montreal side until Atwater (including the île des Sœurs Bridge)
It is important to note that during this period the width of lanes on the A-15 will be reduced to three metres in both directions. Trucks exceeding this width will have to take alternative routes.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the Champlain Corridor and take the Jacques Cartier, Victoria or Honoré Mercier Bridges, or the Louis Hippolyte Lafontaine Bridge-Tunnel, to access or leave the Island of Montreal.
The speed limit on the network will be reduced to 50 km/h.
Note that this work may be postponed depending on weather conditions. A notice will be posted on our blog (www.champlainbridge.ca) every Friday at 3:30 p.m. to advise drivers if the work will go ahead, depending on the weather forecast.
