Champlain Ice Bridge bike path closed for four to six weekends - a shuttle bus will be available for cyclists and pedestrians Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 20, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCBBI) wishes to inform cyclists and pedestrians that the bike path on the Champlain Bridge Ice Control Structure will be completely closed for four to six weekends from Friday 6 p.m. to Monday 6 a.m., starting on August 29.
During this time, a shuttle bus, up to 15 persons, will be available for cyclists and pedestrians who want to travel from one shore to the other. The shuttle bus will depart every 30 minutes.
These closures will allow workers to completely repave the ice control structure, an operation that has not been done since its inauguration in 1966. This is a significant facelift for the structure that is essential to access the Champlain Bridge worksite.
Weekends of paving works:
- Friday August 29, 6 p.m. to Monday September 1, 6 a.m.
- Friday September 5, 6 p.m. to Monday September 8, 6 a.m.
- Friday September 12, 6 p.m. to Monday September 15, 6 a.m.
- Friday September 19, 6 p.m. to Monday September 22, 6 a.m.
- Back up: Friday September 26, 6 p.m. to Monday September 29, 6 a.m.
Please be advised that works could be delayed due to weather conditions. A notice will be published on our blog (pontchamplain.ca) on Fridays at 3:30 p.m. in light of weather forecasts in order to inform cyclists and pedestrians if the works will go ahead as planned.
You can follow the works on our blog at pontchamplain.ca or follow us on Twitter.
