MONTREAL, Dec. 10, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Autorité des marchés financiers (the "AMF") confirms the appointment of Gilles Leclerc as Superintendent, Securities Markets.
Mr. Leclerc, who joined the AMF over one year ago as Senior Director, Corporate Finance, has held the position of Interim Superintendent, Securities Markets since this past September. Prior to joining the AMF, Mr. Leclerc served as partner for more than 12 years in the Montréal office of Fasken Martineau, where he specialized in securities law, mergers and acquisitions and corporate law.
As Superintendent, Securities Markets, Mr. Leclerc is responsible for the development and enforcement of securities and derivatives regulatory requirements in the Québec financial markets, as well as for the supervision of market structures and self-regulatory organizations operating in Québec.
The Autorité des marchés financiers (the "AMF") is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
