Chief Corporate Officer Chris Peirce to leave MTS Allstream

TORONTO, ON, Dec. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. (TSX: MBT) (the "Company" or "MTS Allstream") today announced that Chief Corporate Officer Chris Peirce is retiring from the Company effective December 31, 2013.
"Chris has been a key part of the MTS Allstream story since the earliest days of the Company, and has played an important role both inside and outside the Company as it has become one of Canada's leading communication solutions companies," said Pierre Blouin, Chief Executive Officer. "He has had significant influence on many functional areas of the Company, and has been an effective voice for change in Canada's telecommunications market. Mr. Peirce joined MTS Allstream's predecessor AT&T Canada in 1999 as Vice-President, Government Affairs with a mandate to advocate for a more pro-competitive legislative and regulatory framework in Canada. In roles of successive responsibility and breadth within the organization and as an active leader with industry groups, Mr. Peirce made significant contributions to the telecommunications policy landscape in Canada while also playing a leading role in shaping MTS Allstream's position on major issues including the contribution subsidy mechanism, competitor network access, anti-competitive behaviour, wireless spectrum auction rules and foreign investment regulations. His work has contributed significantly to MTS Allstream's development, helping pave the way for increased opportunity for the Company, its shareholders, and customers.

Paul Beauregard, currently MTS Allstream's Chief Administrative Officer and Corporate Secretary, will assume Mr. Peirce's responsibilities and becomes Chief Corporate and Strategy Officer and Corporate Secretary. As Chief Corporate Officer, Mr. Beauregard will be responsible for the strategy, corporate development, regulatory, corporate communications and community investment functions of the Company, and will continue to be responsible for the oversight of all Legal and Human Resource matters at MTS Allstream, as well as coordinating and supporting the Company's Board of Directors.
Mr. Beauregard joined MTS Allstream in 2008 and has more than a decade of extensive experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining MTS Allstream, he was Vice-President, Law, Mergers and Acquisitions at BCE / Bell Canada and was also an equity partner at the Toronto office of Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP.
